Understanding Severe Thunderstorm Risk Categories
* NWS defines a severe thunderstorm as measured wind gusts to at least 58 mph, and/or hail to at least one inch in diameter, and/or a tornado. All thunderstorm categories imply lightning and the potential for flooding. Saffir-Simpson Scale
The Saffir-Simpson scale measures wind speeds which helps predict potential hazards. Tropical depression wind speeds are less than 39 mph (63 km/h) and tropical storm wind speeds are between 39 and 73 mph (64 and 118 km/h).

Enhanced Fujita Scale for Tornados
The Enhanced Fujita Scale (EF), introduced in 2007, provides estimates of tornado strength based on damage surveys. The original scale was developed by Dr. Theodore Fujita and implemented in 1971.
Debris Removal
